History behind the artwork

In 1991, in Mexico City, we witnessed a wonderful phenomenon; a full solar eclipse.

In this piece the author expresses his experience during that moment.

Abel graduated as a sculptor from “La Esmeralda”, the art school, but had a complete training in the area of graphics and painting. In this last one he developed in an integral and formidable way.

His passion was always sculpture, but he certainly enjoyed and had a lot of fun drawing and painting.

During this time, he was already very active in his technical research on acrylic and sand, and this particular painting was key to a new phase for the artist. From this piece on, his way of painting changed radically. He managed to make color vibrate in all his later works. He passed from a drawing linked to sculpture and design, to a masterly pictorial language.
