History behind the artwork

In some towns in the Mexican Republic, once the fishing is done, the fish are salted and hung to dry, so they will last longer for consumption.

The painting depicts several people throwing their nets in a dynamic composition, with lots of movement. In this painting, the artist minimizes his color palette, working as a monochrome. It is a painting that was made in the 90’s and was taken up by the artist in 2017.

Abel often says that he constantly dialogues with his works, and this one in particular caught his attention because it demanded a change. He finally embroidered it giving this wonderful result.
